Fast storm damaged 12 homes in Lafayette County; Some still without power

A fast-moving thunderstorm wreaked havoc in part of southern Lafayette County Sunday and several hundred are still without power.
The storm rolled through around 5 p.m. Sunday, bringing heavy rain, hail and high winds.
Residents in Thacker Heights and Taylor reported pea to dime-sized hail.
According to Lafayette County Emergency Management, they had received 10 reports of houses being damaged and two reports of apartments being damaged.
Several trees were toppled, knocking down powerlines, according to North East Mississippi Electric Power Association.
Crews worked through the night and by around 8 a.m., about 400 people were still without power; however, as of 6 p.m. Monday evening, 862 homes were again without power. Most of the outages were in the Springdale area, just southwest of the Highway 7/9 split. About 60 homes in the Taylor area were also without power.
