Oxford Police see double-digit decline in arrests

Oxford Police saw a decline in arrests over the past week, dipping below 40 arrests for the first time in two weeks.
OPD made 31 arrests during the week of February 11th and also saw a decline in DUI arrests, according to media releases.
In the two weeks prior to the week of the 11th, OPD made 46 arrests during the week of January 28th and 46 arrests during the week of February 4th.
The week of the February 4th featured 30 arrests from the prior weekend, which was Super Bowl weekend, while the week of January 28th featured 14 total DUI arrests.
During the week of February 11th, of the 31 arrests, nine of them were DUI arrests. Fourteen of the 31 arrests also came over the weekend. Five were arrested over the weekend for public drunkenness.
OPD also issued 208 tickets and recorded 46 accidents during the week of the 14th.
