The Oxford Police Department arrested Madalene Crump, 24 of Oxford, for uttering forgery on Aug. 24. The arrest follows an Aug. 10 report stating Crump had stolen a check and later cashed it at a local bank by forging the victim’s signature. Crump was transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center and given a bond of $2,500 by a Justice Court Judge.

 

OPD arrested Jimmy Robichaux, 62 of Harvey, La., after he was named as a suspect in a Jan. 30 stolen vehicle case. The vehicle was located in Hammond, La. and Robichaux was later arrested for charges unrelated to the theft. On Sept. 4, Robichaux was transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center and served his arrest warrant for motor vehicle theft. He was given a bond of $15,000 by a Justice Court Judge.

 

OPD took a report for theft of a rental car on Aug. 3. Jazzmonica Johnson, 24 of Oxford, rented the car in June and did not return it, so the rental company filed charges on Johnson for embezzlement under contract. On Sept. 10, Johnson was arrested by another agency for the warrant and transported back to the Lafayette County Detention Center. She was given a bond of $10,000 by a Justice Court Judge.

 

A domestic disturbance call at The Links Apartments on Sept. 8 let to the arrest of Cody Oakswaltman, 24 of Oxford. The victim stated that Oakswaltman starting on Sept. 7 until she was able to leave on Sept. 8. Oakswaltman left the scene before officers arrived, but turned himself in later in the day. He was arrested and transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center and charged with Domestic Violence – Aggravated Assault and Kidnapping. He was given a bond of $50,000 by a Justice Court Judge.

 

Scott Sutter, 24 of Oxford, was arrested by OPD on Sept. 8 for false pretenses. Officers took a report on July 23 that Sutter was making purchases at a business with his credit card and then calling the credit card company and claiming his card was stolen. After Sutter reported this to the credit card company, the business had over $700 taken from its account. Workers at the business identified Sutter as the person making the purchases. Sutter was transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center and given a bond of $5,000 by a Justice Court Judge.
