9 Lives Cat Rescue, a local cat rescue organization, announced the return of its virtual Halloween cat costume contest, “Yowl’s on the Prowl – Catwalk Costume Contest.”

This unique event is a chance for cat enthusiasts to showcase their pets’ most creative costumes, with the added thrill of competing for fabulous prizes—all from the comfort of home.

To enter the contest, cat owners must visit the link bit.ly/yotp, fill out the online form, and hope their dressed-up feline catches the judges’ eye. The contest aims to provide a festive platform for cats to show off their costumes, a privilege typically enjoyed by dogs in traditional costume events.

Last year’s event had nearly 60 entries. Sponsors and donors contributed generously, allowing the rescue to offer prize baskets for the winning felines. This year, 9 Lives Cat Rescue hopes to see an even greater turnout and invites local businesses to join as sponsors or donate prizes for the event. All donations are tax-deductible, and participating businesses will receive promotional recognition on the rescue’s popular Facebook group, which has over 5,500 members.

The virtual format of the contest is particularly cat-friendly, eliminating the stress of transporting cats to public venues and reducing the risk of any feline escapees. It also allows a broader audience to engage in the fun, bridging the gap for cat owners who often feel left out of pet-themed events.

Entries for “Yowl’s on the Prowl” are open until 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 29, with winners to be announced on Halloween.
