A local man and woman were arrested recently in connection with a vehicle burglary.

According to reports, on April 11 the Oxford Police Department arrived at the 150 block of Highway 7 for a report of property damage. A car’s window had been shattered and property was stolen from the glove box.

After an investigation, Jaya Wiley, 23, of Oxford was charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and Colan Kemp, 36, of Water Valley was charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and burglary.

Wiley was taken before a Municipal Court judge for an initial bond hearing and was issued a $4,000 bond and a hold was placed by Drug Court.

Kemp was taken before a Municipal Court judge for an initial bond hearing and was issued a $13,500 bond and a hold was placed by the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
