Paula Morris, the benefits manager in the city of Oxford’s Human Resource department, has been honored with the 2023 Virginia H. Chrestman Employee of the Year Award. The announcement was made at the Dec. 19 Board of Aldermen meeting by Braxton Tullos, the city’s human resources director.
In his remarks, Tullos praised Morris for her unwavering commitment and extraordinary work ethic. “Paula’s dedication to her role is unparalleled,” he said. “Earlier this year, after being discharged from the hospital on a Thursday, she reported directly to work to ensure payroll was processed on time. This level of commitment is rare and truly embodies the spirit of the Virginia H. Chrestman Award.”
Morris, who has served the city for more than 26 years, is recognized for her exceptional customer service, positive attitude and reliability. Her tireless dedication, exemplified by her perfect record of processing nearly 1,000 payrolls, reflects her deep commitment to the city and its employees.
The Virginia H. Chrestman Employee of the Year Award, established in memory of Virginia H. Chrestman, is presented annually to a full-time city employee with more than eight years of service. Nominees are selected by their department heads and a final decision is made by a selection committee. The award, funded by the Virginia H. Chrestman Memorial Fund for the City of Oxford through the CREATE Foundation, honors employees who demonstrate a high level of dedication and service.
Morris’s recognition as the 2023 award recipient is a testament to her exceptional service and dedication, upholding the legacy of Virginia H. Chrestman and setting an inspiring example for her colleagues and the community.
