A woman fleeing from the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department Tuesday tried to avoid being captured by hiding out in the bathroom of the Oxford Police Department.
According to Capt. Hildon Sessums, at about 7:40 p.m., a woman was being pursued by the sheriff’s department for unknown reasons when she drove into OPD’s parking lot, got out of her vehicle, ran into the OPD lobby and tried to hide in the bathroom.
The woman was apprehended and turned over to the sheriff’s department.
According to Lafayette County Chief Investigator Alan Wilburn, the women was a patient at a local rehabilitation center when she left campus and was headed toward the city limits. She remained in custody Wednesday pending a mental health evaluation. No charges have been filed against the woman.
