At about 7:45 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a mobile home park off Old Taylor Road for a possible gunshot injury.
When deputies arrived, the male victim had been transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi. Investigators attempted to interview the man; however, there was a language barrier.
“We were able to get that one man and one woman were responsible for shooting him,” said Chief Investigator Alan Wilburn this morning.
The victim underwent surgery this morning at Baptist. Wilburn said investigators will attempt to get more information once the victim can speak to them.
There are no suspects at this time in custody.
This is the second shooting in Lafayette County in less than two weeks.
On Jan. 23, a local man was injured when an unknown person in a vehicle fire multiple rounds from a gun into the man’s trailer off Highway 30. No arrests have been made in that case. Wilburn said, at this time, he does not believe the two incidents are related.
This is a developing story.
