Our View: Pop Up Oxford a great idea

We’re still a couple of weeks away from the first Pop Up Oxford, a week-long celebration of the city’s rich cultural scene. But now is the time for making a calendar reminder to attend.
This effort, created by Visit Oxford under the direction of Mary Allyn Hedges, is a strong, rewarding concept that will serve the city well during what is normally a quiet week of the year – January 22 through 28.
The smart hook of Pop Up Oxford is that it will offer something to everyone, while celebrating a taste of all that Oxford is known for including food, literature, film, arts, theater, arts and, of course, Ole Miss sports.
The events hold appeal to Oxford area residents or out of town visitors who want to experience the city at a quieter time than, say, an Ole Miss football weekend. Some will want to participate in a few events, while others may want to get to every single one during the week.
For the complete schedule visit PopUpOxfordMS.com and mark your calendar for January 22 through 28.
This will be the first Pop Up Oxford, but likely not the last. It is a strong effort by our talented Visit Oxford team that will be worth attending.
