Howington to be assistant director of OSD curriculum

Oxford School District has tabbed a former principal for multiple Oxford School District schools to be a part of its Curriculum Department’s leadership.
Kathy Howington, who has been with OSD over over decade, has been named Assistant Curriculum Director by the district. She will take over as assistant director starting on July 1.
As the Assistant Curriculum Director, Howington will be in charge of planning, implementing and maintaining a development plan for district personnel. She will also manage all processes relating to the Curriculum Department.
“My extensive experience with the National Board project has equipped me to provide our staff and faculty with viable feedback in the our educational process to enhance teaching on many different levels from classroom instruction to behavior management to growth as a professional,” Howington said in a release from OSD.
In her career with OSD, Howington has previously served as the Central Elementary Assistant Principal & Principal, Oxford High School Assistant Principal, Oxford Learning Center & Scott Center Principal. She was also named OSD’s Administrator of the Year in 2013.
During Monday’s OSD school board meeting, it was also recommended that the district hire Toni Bell as principal of Oxford Intermediate School. Her starting date would also be July 1.
Kendedrick Jones was also approved to transfer to be the assistant principal at Oxford Intermediate, while Jennifer Bass was approved to transfer to be the assistant principal at Bramlett Elementary School.
