Ole Miss’ top unsigned commit is no more. Jackson Prep running back Jerrion Ealy announced Tuesday on Twitter that he is re-opening his recruitment, ahead of the February sighing window.
“I would like to thank Coach Matt Luke and the rest of his staff for providing me with the opportunity to further my academic and athletic careers,” Ealy said in a statement on Twitter. “I have thought about this for a while and it wasn’t an easy decision to make, but with God, my family, and my coaches, I would like to announce that I have de-committed from the University of Mississippi.”
Listed as a four-star recruit by 247Sports, Ealy is the number four running back in the country and the number two overall player in the state of Mississippi. Last week, he was named co-MVP of the Under Armour All-American game, rushing for a game record 119 yards.
Coming off of Monday’s national championship victory over Alabama, Ealy will be visiting Clemson on Saturday. The recruitment is now believed to be down to Clemson, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.
Ealy will now be signing Feb. 6 during the regular football signing window. However, there seems to be a growing feeling that this de-commitment may mean that Ealy is leaning towards playing professional baseball instead of college football. Ealy is ranked as the no. 18 draft eligible player on MLB.com’sprospect watch.
