Bessie Faye Champion Bolen Tutor

Bessie Faye Champion Bolen Tutor, 80, died Friday, March 16, 2018, at Yalobusha County Nursing Home in Water Valley, Miss.  She was born July 21, 1937, to the late Herman Champion and Louise Champion in Water Valley and lived in the Water Valley area all her life.  Following her graduation in 1955, she entered the nursing program at St. Joseph School of Nursing in Memphis, Tenn.  Bessie loved nursing and music, particularly church music. She was an accomplished pianist. She was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church where she served as church pianist.  Bessie was a seamstress and could also make a delicious banana pudding.

Visitation was held at Bethel Baptist Church of Water Valley on Monday, March 19, 2018, at 10 a.m. with the service following at 11 a.m.  Bro. Shane Crawford and Dr. Danny Champion officiated the service.  Burial followed in Bethel Church Cemetery.

Bessie is survived by her husband, Atlas Earl Tutor; a daughter, Angela Edwards (Sammy) of Water Valley, a son, Lane Bolen (Nancy) of Lake City, Fla., her brother, Dr. Dan Champion (Lilly) of Athens, Ala, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
