It’s almost time for Ole Miss baseball

Next week, Ole Miss head baseball coach Mike Bianco begins his 18th season leading the Rebels.
It is a year with much promise, with hopes that Ole Miss can return to Omaha for the College World Series. Last year, Bianco’s Rebels began with year with national rankings and promise, but a youthful roster that was light on hitting wasn’t enough for the rugged SEC and postseason hopes didn’t materialize.
Any time a team fails to meet expectations coaches will face at least some grumbling. Bianco is no exception to that rule.
But Mike Bianco is the right man for the Ole Miss baseball job for now and long into the future.
He is known behind the scenes to run his program with the highest integrity. When players need discipline, he will discipline, without regard for the impact to his coaching record in the short-term.
And, Bianco is a successful recruiter because he is known among players for being both fair and developing them as players with the opportunity for professional baseball if their talents have merit.
We are proud to have Mike Bianco as the Ole Miss baseball coach and look forward to the start of another rewarding season in 2018.
