Does Ole Miss have two of the top 10 prospects for the 2019 NFL Draft? At least one media outlet thinks so.
In its way-too-early look at the 2019 draft class, 247Sports has offensive tackle Greg Little and receiver A.J. Brown coming off the board within in the first 10 picks. The website ranks Little as the draft’s fourth-best prospect while Brown comes in at No. 9.
Both members of the Rebels’ 2016 signing class, Little and Brown will be eligible for the draft for the first time after completing their junior season next year. Little, ranked the nation’s top tackle prospect coming out of Allen (Texas) High during his recruiting cycle, was a five-star prospect while Brown, a Starkville native, was a four-star recruit.
The website lists the 6-foot-6, 332-pound Little as its top tackle prospect for the 2019 draft “for now.”
“You’ll see a lot of names thrown around as the top tackle prospect in the 2019 draft class, and we’ll get to a few of them, but Little was the best among that group last season,” 247Sports’ Chris Hummer wrote in his assessment of Little. “(Pro Football Focus) College gave Little an 85.3 overall grade in 2017, and his 87.3 pass block grade is well ahead of the other blind side protectors under consideration.”
Brown turned in the best statistical season for a wideout in Ole Miss history as a sophomore, setting single-season records in receiving yards (1,252) and touchdown receptions (11) on his way to All-American honors. Hummer cited the 6-1, 225-pounder’s blend of speed and strength and his production against quality competition as the main reasons for having Brown as the top-ranked receiver prospect for next year’s draft.
“Brown, at 6-foot-1, 225 pounds, is an explosive combination of speed and power with a near linebacker’s build,” Hummer wrote. “He’s also a good route runner with excellent hands.”
First up is this year’s draft, which will be held April 26-28 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington Texas. Ole Miss has had nine players selected in the last two drafts, including first-rounders Laremy Tunsil, Robert Nkemdiche and Laquon Treadwell in 2016.
