Ole Miss has pulled off a couple of flips during the early signing period, including one from its in-state rival.
Callaway High defensive lineman James Williams signed with the Rebels on Wednesday. Williams had been committed to Mississippi State.
A consensus three-star recruit, the 6-foot-5, 285-pound Williams tallied 154 tackles, 32 tackles for loss and 50 quarterback hurries as a senior at Callaway and accounted for 49 tackles for loss and 24 sacks over his final two seasons with the Chargers. He’s rated Mississippi’s No. 4 overall recruit by Rivals and the nation’s No. 17 strongside defensive end by 247Sports.
Also rated as the nation’s No. 40 defensive tackle prospect by Rivals, Williams could play on the edge or move inside at Ole Miss.
