A full weekend ahead in Oxford

Sometimes, we are amazed at all the activities our small community can produce at one time.
This weekend is a perfect example.
Oxford and Ole Miss are hosting the Mississippi high school state championship football games, filling hotel rooms and restaurants with fans while games are played at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on campus.
There is theater, with the Ford Center on campus hosting a production of “Amahl and the Night Visitors” tonight. The Christmas story will feature residents from the Oxford and University community, making it more special.
On Saturday, many of Oxford’s most interesting homes are featured in a walking holiday home tour that is open to the public and benefits one of our meaningful charities, Doors of Hope.
At 1 p.m. the Ole Miss men’s basketball team hosts ACC foe Virginia Tech in what is expected to be near-sellout conditions at the Pavilion on campus. That game is followed by another game featuring the Ole Miss women.
And that’s just some of what is occurring on Oxford on Saturday. We can’t even list it all.
But between the competitions, theater, and home tour, it’s easy to see that Oxford and Ole Miss are bustling in early December. We hope you will find something to do and enjoy!
