We have much to be thankful for

We have so much to be thankful for, as individuals and as a community
Good schools. Good friends. And so much more.
That’s why we are glad to have this day to come together literally and spiritually for a time of Thanksgiving.
We always enjoy Thanksgiving because the only real hassle happens in the kitchen and even that is a joy for most, preparing food for friends and family.
It doesn’t hurt that the day is capped with the annual Egg Bowl once again, providing compelling television this evening once the food and fellowship winds down.
As for giving thanks, it can be hard for some to embrace gifts we have when others are hurting. There’s no denying that pain is present for many, be it grief or dealing with challenges including addiction and job loss.
But the truth is that we are more thankful because our community has so many resources and so many caring people to lend a shoulder or a helping hand.
For many others, this is a bountiful time. Oxford is growing and economically flourishing in many respects, providing more resources to both do good and enjoy life.
All of it adds up to gratitude for the gift of life and community. Happy Thanksgiving.
