Homer Shaw Fitch

Mr. Homer Shaw Fitch, 73, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi. The funeral service will be Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Hope officiating. Burial will follow in College Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 16, 2017, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in West Hall at Waller Funeral Home.
Born in Oxford, Miss. to the late Ernestine Shaw and Homer Benjamin Fitch, Mr. Fitch was a retired security guard at the University of Mississippi and served on the North Mississippi College Board of Trustees.
He was a member of College Hill Presbyterian Church where he previously served as a deacon and elder and attended First Baptist Church of Abbeville. He enjoyed good conversation and had a true interest in the lives of other people. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed taking care of his yard and researching his roots through genealogy.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years, Jonnie Wait Fitch of Oxford, Miss.; a daughter, Courtney Fitch Arnold and her husband, Trey of Madison, Miss.; two sisters, Linda Fitch Sallis of Oxford, Miss., and Alice Fitch Marascalco of Grenada, Miss.; and two grandchildren, Sarah Evans and her husband, Newman of Birmingham, Ala., and Rebekah Templeton and her husband, Mitchell of Memphis, Tenn.
