Former Ole Miss offensive lineman Terrence Metcalf has been chosen as a member of this year’s Southeastern Conference Football Legends class.
The league announced this year’s class Tuesday. The class honors 14 former players — one from each SEC school — who have proven to be among the best players at their respective schools.
The class will be honored at the league’s “Weekend of Champions” Dec. 1-2 in Atlanta and will be recognized before the SEC Championship Game on Dec. 2 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Metcalf, a consensus All-American in 2001, was a four-year starter, a two-time All-SEC selection and a two-time All-America selection while playing in three bowls with the Rebels. He was selected as the league’s Most Valuable Lineman as a senior before being taken in the third round of the 2002 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears.
A Clarksdale native, Metcalf spent all seven seasons of his professional career with the Bears and played in Super Bowl XLI.
Metcalf is the offensive line coach at Pearl River Community College. He previously served as a volunteer coach at Oxford High.
The rest of the class includes former Mississippi State offensive lineman Floyd “Pork Chop” Womack, former Alabama coach Gene Stallings, former Arkansas defensive tackle Dan Hampton, former Auburn cornerback Carlos Rogers, former Florida quarterback Danny Wuerffel, former Georgia defensive back Champ Bailey, former Kentucky defensive back Nate Northington, former LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey, former Missouri quarterback Brad Smith, former South Carolina linebacker John Abraham, former Tennessee offensive lineman Chad Clifton, former Texas A&M defensive back Dave Elmendorf and former Vanderbilt safety/quarterback Don Orr.
