Bacchus to move into Rowdy Rebs space

Some changes are coming to Bacchus on the Square and the space that used to house Rowdy Rebs.
According to Tony Halcin, the Regional Manager of the restaurant group and a real estate agent in town, Bacchus will be switching places with the old Rowdy Rebs location. In Bacchus’ old location, Billups Breakfast of Oxford will be opening.
Bacchus and Rowdy Rebs are owned by Jourdan and Field Nicaud who also own Bacchus locations in Biloxi, Pass Christian and Madison.
“Over the past few months, we’ve realized (Bacchus) is such a narrow building that you only have so much space to work in,” Halcin said. “And since we already had the other building, we thought, ‘hey, why not move it over and bring in this breakfast spot?’ I think with those tighter quarters, Billups will be more fitting there.”
Halcin added that the goal is to have the new Bacchus and Billups opened by the fall semester.
The bar that was once utilized for Rowdy Rebs will again be used for the new Bacchus. Halcin says that a partition will divide the restaurant, allowing the back to be open at night for drinks.
In 2014, Billups Coffee opened in Oxford, and for this breakfast venture, the Nicauds will be teaming up with the Billups family.
Billups Petroleum was founded in Mississippi in the 1940s and the business eventually grew to include gas stations.
