The Oxford High School Theatre Arts Guild is celebrating its 15th anniversary with two big fundraising events taking place next week. The money raised from these trips will go toward the group’s trip to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, a prestigious international theater event where they will be performing.
The first event on Wednesday, June 14, is “Good Company,” a dinner taking place at The Nests Bed and Breakfast that will be catered by Saint Leo. At the dinner, there will be performances by OHS Theatre alumni as well as the University of Mississippi Jazz Quintet. “Good Company” will be celebrating (in advance) the 100th show that the group will be performing with their next season.
Theatre alumni will be “coming from all corners of the country and even Canada,” according to the head of the theater department, John Davenport, for a concert staging of “Company” on June 17. Davenport says 70 former students are returning for the show.
“The nice touch is that the nineteen students going to Scotland have this opportunity because of the hard work and dedication of the former students who are returning to perform in ‘Company,’” Davenport added.
Tickets for the “Good Company” dinner event are $40 in advance or $50 at the door. It begins at 7 p.m. Stephen Sondheim’s “Company will be staged at 7:30 p.m. on June 17. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
Tickets can be gotten on the theater website (https://www.oxfordsd.org/theatre) or by emailing the department at ohs_tag@hotmail.com.
