The Double Decker Arts Festival is a time when Oxford celebrates the finer things in life – beautiful art, great music and delicious food offered by Oxford’s many restaurants. It’s a time to connect with old friends and form new family traditions.
However, children can also find lots of fun at the annual Square Fair, whether it’s spinning around on the gyrosphere, jumping in a bounce house or crawling through an obstacle course.
The Square Fair will be located in and around the Lafayette County Chancery Building.
In the parking lot, Extreme Entertainment will provide several rides and activities including the gyrosphere, rock wall, mechanical bull, a bounce house and an obstacle course. The cost for the rides ranges from $2 to $8.
Kathy McManus with the Chill Factory will sell smoothies and icy drinks to keep things cool.
Free activities for kids will be located in the grassy area behind the chancery building. Organic Moms provide diaper changing and nursing stations. Oxford Fire Department will have an obstacle course. The University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy and Communicare will host free activities and games.
Best Dressed Pets
Kids and adults aren’t the only ones who can have fun at Double Decker. Pets have a chance to show off their fancy outfits in the annual Best Dressed Pet Contest, which will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday on the south side of the Lafayette County Courthouse.
“We encourage all types of pets to enter the contest,” said OLHS Director Jenn Petermann. “Over the years, we’ve had dogs, cats, turtles and guinea pigs.”
