OXFORD — William Earl “Pop” Russell, formerly of Clarksdale, died Sept. 7, 2016, at his home in Oxford. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Meredith-Nowell Chapel in Clarksdale with burial in the Oakridge Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time at Meredith-Nowell Funeral, which is in charge of arrangements.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Samuel C. Russell, Jack Russell and Carl Russell Jr.; sisters Hazel Russell Bell and Louise Russell Howell.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nancie Pittman Russell of Oxford; sons Darin Wayne Russell of Oxford and Eric Wayland Russell of Bobo; step-son Clyde Ray of Rena Lara; daughter Pricillia Ann Johnson of Oxford; step-daughter Cindy Elliott of Walls; brothers Bill Ed Russell and Thomas “Tom” Russell Sr., both of Clarksdale, and James “Buster” Russell of Rena Lara ; sisters Fay Russell Howell of Leesburg, Florida, Frances Russell Cunningham of Tecumseh, Alabama and Elizabeth Russell Ray of Lone Oak, Arkansas; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and one great step-grandchild.
