Ole Miss vs. Florida State: Where in Oxford can fans watch the game?

Ole Miss football fans have every right to be fired up about this season after coming off one of the school’s more successful campaigns in decades. The Rebels, who capped last year’s season with a Sugar Bowl victory in New Orleans, kick off the 2016 season with a nationally televised primetime encounter with traditional powerhouse Florida State Monday night in Orlando, Florida.
Expectations are high and fans who can’t make the trek to Orlando are clamoring to watch the season opener Labor Day night either at home or at one of several watch parties that are taking place around town.
One of the bigger public watch parties will take place in the Grove where fans will get an early start on their tailgating season.
The Ole Miss Student Activities Association is hosting the event and attendees are invited to bring their tents and chairs, just like a typical game day in the Grove. There will also be giveaways and promotional items available during the event.
According to the SAA, setup will begin at 5 p.m. on Monday.
On the Square, the historic Lyric Oxford will host a watch party with fans welcome to view the game for free on the big screen. Doors will open at 6 p.m. There is no cover and there will be drink specials until kick off. Parties of six or more can call 662-234-5333 to reserve a table.
The Shelter on Van Buren is another venue on the Square that will be hosting a watch party for the Ole Miss faithful. Several bars on the Square will also be showing the game live.
The Rebels enter the game ranked No. 11 in the Associated Press preseason poll, while the Seminoles open the season ranked No. 4 in the nation by the AP.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
