WATER VALLEY – Cecil Simpson Ford, 83, died Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley. Funeral services will be held today at 3 p.m. at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley with the Rev. Allen McGraw and the Rev. Don Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Oakland. Visitation will be held from noon until 2:45 p.m. today at Seven Oaks Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

A native of Memphis, Tennessee, she moved to Water Valley with her husband Melvin Ford in 1963. She was a graduate of Central High School and the University of Memphis with a bachelor and master’s degree. She was employed in the Water Valley School System as a teacher for 25 years. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church, as well as several community organizations. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling.

She is survived by her husband, Melvin Ford of Water Valley; daughter Margie Ford of Memphis, Tennessee, and one granddaughter.
