No need to get scared, Oxford area churches are providing fun and safe activities throughout this Halloween week leading up to Saturday’s trick-or-treating.
Oxford University United Methodist Church and North Oxford Baptist Church are hosting Halloween events for the family to enjoy.
“We have games, a chili cookoff, costume contest, and lots of fun for a good cause,” OUUMC Missions-Outreach Coordinator Pat Forrester said.
OUUMC will have “LAVINRAC,” which is carnival spelled backwards, today from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. LAVINRAC is a children’s carnival.
Attendants are encouraged to bring donations for the Scott Center school for mentally and physically handicapped children. OUUMC is donating contributions in honor of Amy Scott.
North Oxford Baptist Church will have a “Hallow-Him” Carnival on Saturday from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
Bring two bags of individually wrapped candy to the donation boxes in the church office or at the Welcome Center upon arrival.
Admission to the community-wide event is free.
As always, Halloween trick-or-treating will be on Saturday, the day of Halloween. The city and county do not set specific times for trick-or-treating.
