An Oxford man was arrested for the sexual battery of a child.

On March 31, investigators with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report regarding sexual assault allegations against a child.

Subsequently, Joel Boyd Jr., 43, of Oxford, was arrested and charged with one count of rape with intent to ravish and two counts of sexual battery of a child.

Boyd appeared before a Justice Court Judge on Tuesday and was issued a $200,000 bond.

Due to the sensitive nature of the case, no further information was released by the LCSO.
