Communicare is hosting a free community-wide Narcan training.
The free training will be held at 6 p.m. on March 25 at the Lafayette County Fire Department at 50 County Road 1032.
Led by Emily Presley, a certified Narcan trainer and opiate overdose awareness peer support specialist with Communicare, participants will learn how to recognize and respond to opioid overdoses, as well as how to properly administer Narcan.
Narcan, the brand name for Naloxone, is a life-saving medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Attendees will also receive Narcan kits to equip them with the tools to potentially save lives in an emergency.
This Narcan training is part of Communicare’s ongoing efforts to support the community in addressing the opioid epidemic.
In addition, Communicare offers a variety of free community trainings, including Mental Health First Aid for both youth and adults, suicide prevention, autism awareness, domestic violence intervention, trauma-informed care and more.
