Lady Chargers fall to Germantown finishing the season 21-8

Germantown rallied in the 2nd half to defeat Oxford 45-38 and advance in the MHSAA Class 7A girls basketball playoffs on Friday night at Oxford High.

Germantown scored 20 third-period points to erase a six-point halftime deficit and led 35-29 going into the fourth quarter. Oxford had led 7-3 after the first period and 21-15 at the half.

The Lady Chargers were led by Zoe Metcalf with 13 points. Sydney Glahn added 10 and CC Frierson scored nine. Germantown was paced by Julia Glasgow’s 13 points and Ayla Benson’s 10.

Oxford finishes the season with a 21-8 record while Germantown will play Starkville, who defeated Horn Lake, in the next round.
