Today is Human Trafficking Awareness Day
Published 9:00 am Saturday, January 11, 2025
The Mississippi State Department of Health’s Office Against Interpersonal Violence would like to remind everyone that January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month and today, Jan. 11, is designated as Human Trafficking Awareness Day.
Everyone is encouraged to wear Blue to support the awareness day.
Human trafficking involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act. Every year, millions of men, women, and children are trafficked worldwide – including right here in the United States. It can happen in any community and victims can be any age, race, gender, or nationality. Traffickers might use violence, manipulation, or false promises of well-paying jobs or romantic relationships to lure victims into trafficking situations.
How to Get Involved:
- Wear Blue on January 11 and encourage your friends, family, coworkers, local organizations, businesses, and community partners to also show their support by participating.
