The Mid-South Housing Foundation, an organization dedicated to promoting and fostering low- and moderate-income housing, has expanded its mission of supporting families in need by addressing food insecurity.
Recognizing the importance of programs that assist families year-round, the Foundation began partnering with The Pantry of Oxford in 2023.
In 2024, The Pantry served an average of 650 to 675 families monthly, accounting for 1,500 to 1,650 individuals. As the holiday season brings heightened demand for food access, the Mid-South Housing Foundation stepped forward with a significant contribution.
On Nov. 20, 2024, the Foundation donated $10,000 to The Pantry to help address the increased need during this critical time. The donation was made in memory of Jimmy Heidel, a community advocate who played a vital role in ensuring that families in Oxford and Lafayette County had food on their tables.
The Mid-South Housing Foundation’s efforts reflect a broader commitment to supporting families not only with affordable housing but also with essential resources like food, highlighting the interconnected nature of community well-being.
