The Oxford Board of Aldermen approved two resolutions to request funding from the Mississippi Legislature for improvements to College Hill Road and the extension of Pegues Road.
The first resolution is for $4.8 million to increase the level of service on College Hill Road in three critical areas.
The projects include roundabouts at College Hill Road and McElroy Drive, and College Hill Road and Old Sardis Road, and the extension of a turning lane and bike lanes at the intersection of College Hill Road and Jackson Avenue West.
The second resolution is asking the Legislature for $1.8 million for the extension of Pegues Road to Ed Perry Boulevard.
City officials believe with the population growth in Oxford, the extension of Pegues Road will establish a connection between two major thoroughfares – Sisk Avenue and University Avenue.
