Sally Milam, a second grader at Della Davidson Elementary School, gets in some early Snow Angel practice in a bed of the uniquely fan-shaped yellow leaves from a ginkgo biloba tree in her Oxford neighborhood. This deciduous species predates dinosaurs roaming the earth and is noted for its resilience, with numerous trees having survived the 1945 atomic bomb blast in Hiroshima.
