A Memphis man was arrested recently in connection with a 2023 burglary in Oxford.

An officer with the Oxford Police Department responded on Dec. 8, 2023, to a report of a burglary at a storage facility located at 19 Highway 334.

The officer spoke with the unit owner, who reported that his storage unit had been accessed unlawfully and three personal items had been stolen. The owner stated he was the only individual with authorized access to the unit.

Later that day, the officer reviewed surveillance footage provided by the storage facility. The video showed two suspects arriving in a vehicle, both actively involved in breaking in and stealing.

Following an investigation, the officer identified the suspect’s vehicle and one of the individuals involved. On Feb. 7, 2024, a warrant was issued for Samuel Martin, who was transported from Memphis to Oxford on Feb. 27 and was questioned about the incident.

During his interview, Martin identified the second suspect as Robert Brown, 59, of Memphis.

Martin was charged accordingly and returned to the Lafayette County Detention Center.

A warrant was then issued for Robert Brown’s arrest on charges of commercial burglary.

On Nov. 14, Brown was in custody at the Lafayette County Detention Center on unrelated charges. He was served with the outstanding warrant and charged with Commercial Burglary. A municipal Court Judge will set his bond.
