OHS opens new soccer stadium with wins

Oxford opened its new soccer stadium with a pair of 7-0 mercy rule wins over Olive Branch.

Jane Irwin scored the first-ever goal at the new field to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead. Madison Strum added a second goal from the penalty spot. Conley Clark would later redirect a free kick into the net to give Oxford a 3-0 lead.

Ann Roberson and Caroline Love both scored before the break to give Oxford a 5-0 lead at halftime. Strum and Love both added their second goals of the evening early in the second half and the game was ended.

Oxford High coach Hunter Crane picked up his 200th win as head coach and was presented a ball signed by players of both teams following the match.

In the boys nightcap, Jerry Dudley scored four goals to pace the Chargers. Colton Webb, Sultan Adetipe, and Gustavo Urbina also scored for the Chargers.
