Lafayette County Investigator Joe Quarles is the first deputy from the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office to be selected to attend the FBI National Academy.

Quarles began his career with the LCSO in 2015, starting as a jailor, then moving on to a patrol deputy, a sergeant, and now, an investigator.

He is passionate about solving complex cases and is dedicated to the community.

To be accepted to the FBI Academy is a huge honor, especially since it’s a rare opportunity—only about 1% of law enforcement officers nationwide get selected.

While at the Academy, he plans to take investigative and behavioral analysis classes that will enhance his skills, help him solve crimes more effectively, and contribute to crime prevention efforts in our community.

Quarles said he is most excited about bringing back new skills and knowledge to benefit Lafayette County. Still, he admits that being away from his family, including his 1-year-old son, will be the most challenging part of this journey.
