Hopewell Water issues self-imposed boil water notice

The Hopewell Water Association is advising its customers to implement a self-imposed boil water notice after a major disruption in its water supply. The association reported on its social media pages that a main water line along Highway 30 had broken, causing the water lines and standpipe to be emptied.
As a result, residents and businesses connected to the system are being urged to take precautionary measures until further notice. The water association is working to address the issue. Once water pressure is restored water samples will be sent to the Mississippi State Department of Health for analysis.
Under a self-imposed boil water notice, customers are advised to boil their tap water for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, or washing dishes. Boiling the water kills any potential contaminants, ensuring it is safe for consumption.
