The Lafayette County Fire Department is partnering with the Oxford-Lafayette School of Applied Technology to offer a unique opportunity to become firefighters upon graduation.
This initiative, led by Assistant Chief of Training Jamie Phillips, aims to equip students with the necessary skills to be better prepared for any state’s certification process upon graduation from high school.
The comprehensive training program provides hands-on training and academic coursework designed to meet the certification requirements for firefighters. Students enrolled in the program will benefit from real-world training scenarios, mentorship from experienced firefighters, and the latest firefighting techniques and technology.
“This partnership is a game-changer for our community,” Phillips said. “By training high school students, we provide them with a viable career path and strengthen our fire department with well-prepared and passionate individuals.”
Students interested in the program are encouraged to contact their school counselor or the Lafayette County Fire Department for more information.
