One thing a jail doesn’t want is hot, grumpy inmates.
On Monday, the Lafayette County Board of Supervisors approved spending $429,500 on a new chiller for
the Detention Center.
The county budgeted $450,000 for the chiller and three bids were submitted with the lowest and best bid
of the $429,500 coming from Lee Mechanical Solutions.
“A couple of years ago Lee Mechanical did all of the control upgrades for us at LCDC (Lafayette County
Detention Center) and they did it in a very timely and professional manner,” said Joel Hollowell, director
of Development Services.
The other bids came from S.M. Lawrence and Upchurch Services.
