Oxford Falls to Hernando in the 7A North Half Championship

The Oxford Chargers fell to Hernando in a 10-inning game 1-0 on Saturday in the 7A North Half Championship series.
Oxford (23-12) and Hernando were in a pitcher’s duel through the first three innings of the game.
The Chargers starter Barrett Kamman worked 3.0 innings and allowed no runs on three hits with three walks and a strikeout.
Oxford turned to the bullpen for the arm of Hayes Huggins in the fourth. Huggins tossed 3.0 innings with no runs, two hits, a walk and two strikeouts.
The Chargers brought Robert Upchurch to the mound in the seventh. Upchurch pitched 4.0 innings and surrendered a run on one hit with a walk and four strikeouts.
Oxford’s pitchers struck out a total of seven Tiger batters.
The Chargers and the Tigers batted into extra innings with no score through seven innings.
Hernando loaded the bases in the tenth inning with one out and scored a run on a sacrifice fly to left field to take a 1-0 advantage.
Oxford’s season comes to a close in the 7A North Half Championship series.
