Germantown evens the series with Oxford

The Germantown Mavericks evened the series with the Oxford Chargers with a 2-1 victory on Saturday.
Oxford (20-10) and Germantown were in a pitcher’s duel through the first three innings.
The Chargers starter Barrett Kamman made quick work of the Mavericks in the first two innings, and the batters went down in order.
In the bottom of the fourth, Germantown took an early 1-0 advantage on a sacrifice fly to right field.
Oxford’s Jack Harper quickly tied the game on a solo home run to left field to open the fifth.
Kamman worked 5.0 innings and surrendered two runs (one earned) on four hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
Oxford brought Robert Upchurch to the mound in the sixth. Upchurch pitched an inning of scoreless baseball with a hit two walks and two strikeouts.
Germantown went ahead of Oxford by a run in the home half of the sixth on a walk to go ahead 2-1.
Oxford had the go-ahead run on base in the seventh after walks given up to Jack Gaia and Reid Kent, but couldn’t get them home.
Oxford and Germantown will play a winner-take-all all game three on Monday. The first pitch is set for 7 p.m.
