The retirees at Sunshine Valley are mad and calling for a revolt! How dare the town council eliminate senior discounts on utilities? That’s the stuff of revolution, and madcap comedy, too, in The Old People are Revolting, a play written by Devon Williamson that Theatre Oxford will bring to the Powerhouse stage April 19 and 20. 

Directing the Theatre Oxford production will be Randy Redd, a veteran of both film and theatre with credits both on and off Broadway in productions such as Million Dollar Quartet and Parade.

The Old People are Revolting, performed in many theaters worldwide, is a play that “shows just how a skillful blend of writer, director, actors, and backstage can produce a comedy that deserves to go on your ‘must-see’ list,” writes the Hawkes Bay Today publication in Hastings, New Zealand.

Doors open at 6 p.m. for dinner at the April 19 Dinner Theatre production with the show scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The April 20 production is show-only, with one performance at 2 p.m. and one at 7:30 p.m. 

Tickets for the performances without dinner will be $12 for Theatre Oxford members and children, $15 for students and seniors, and $20 for non-members. Tickets can be purchased online until two hours before showtime or at the door if available. 

Dinner will be catered by Moe’s BBQ. Vegetarian and vegan options will also be provided by Tarasque. Dinner will cost $50 for Theatre Oxford members and children, $60 for seniors and students and $65 for non-members. Guests are also able to purchase alcoholic beverages at concessions.
