The Water Valley School Board of Trustees voted unanimously to hire Drew Pitcock as superintendent during a special meeting last week, as reported by the North Mississippi Herald.
Pitcock has served the district as principal at Water Valley High School since 2015 and was appointed interim superintendent in January following the retirement of former superintendent Jerry Williams.
School board president Joseph Flippin reported the decision came after the position was advertised and candidates were interviewed last week. An email was sent to school faculty on March 8, shortly after the meeting, announcing the hire.
Pitcock is known as a servant-leader in the district and helped guide Water Valley High School from a D-rated school to a B-rated school.
