Square Books will reopen for in-store business on Monday, June 1 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Beginning on Monday, Square Books will begin its “Shop by Appointment” program. At this time, appointments are only available for the main store. Off Square Books, Square Books Jr. and Rare Square Books are closed for the time being.
According to a statement released by the business, “this (shop by appointment initiative) will be the only way for the public to enter the store.”
Each appointment will last 25 minutes, which allows for a person to check out before the next appointment arrives.
The two-step appointment process involves making a shopping reservation online at the Square Books website. Shoppers will pick a date and time, and will be asked to confirm the appointment by purchasing a $25 gift card, which can be used during the appointment or at a later time, like any other gift card.
Both shoppers and booksellers in the store will be required to wear a mask and gloves.
It is advised that people who do not feel well should stay at home and allow for purchases to be delivered at home. Those who keep their appointments are warranting that they have no symptoms that could be attributed to COVID-19.
A bookseller will be available at the store to help people find books or to provide recommendations. They will also be there to supervise and ensure protocols are being followed.
