Oxford’s Community Market will be holding a food drive at the Old Armory Pavilion on Tuesday, March 17.
From noon until 3 p.m., they’ll be operating during their regular market hours.
The Market will have collection bins for donations of non-perishable foods at their welcome table to be delivered to the Oxford Food Pantry and the University of Mississippi Food Bank.
In addition to non-perishable food donations, the Market will also be collecting donations for household items and hygiene supplies, to benefit families who are running low on basic supplies during these times.
As is standard, the normal fresh market produce from local farmers being sold at the market during open times, with a few modifications.
Unlike usual weekly markets, there will not be live music, product demonstrations or free samples for the foreseeable future. Vendor booths will also be spread out, with a minimum of 6 feet between vendors. Vendors have also been asked to arrange their displays in ways that discourage customers to handle goods, and customers are asked to allow vendors to bag items for customers.
Customers are also asked to shop quickly and not linger at the market to minimize the spread of germs.
