A shortlist of four former Ole Miss players are among the 337 players invited to the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine.
Held in Indianapolis from Feb. 23 to Mar. 2, Josiah Coatney, Benito Jones, Scottie Phillips and Qaadir Sheppard have been invited to participate in the combine leading up to the April draft.
It’s a group of Rebels dominated by those along the defensive front. Jones and Coatney were both starters along the 2019 defensive line, with Jones playing primarily the nose tackle position and Coatney as a 3-4 defensive end.
Both have played both positions along the defensive line and in both a 4-3 and 3-4 scheme with Ole Miss, surly something that will help their case as draft season continues. Similarly, Qaadir Shepard was one of those who made the transition from defensive end to outside linebacker when Ole Miss moved to the 3-4 under Mike MacIntyre. He could play either a 4-3 defensive end or 3-4 outside linebacker at the next level.
The lone offensive player invited to the combine for Ole Miss was that of senior running back Scottie Phillips. Phillips ran for 542 yards and 5 touchdowns in eight games over his senior season.
The combine will take place in the end of February, televised on NFL Network.
