What to expect on Wednesday’s National Signing Day

Wednesday marks the second signing window for college football.
National Signing Day acts both as a chance for Ole Miss to finalize and fill out their roster for the upcoming 2020-21 football season, and for local high school athletes to sign their national letters of intent to play not just football, but a myriad of collegiate sports.
What’s going on at local high schools?
Both Lafayette and Oxford high schools will hold signing day ceremonies on Wednesday morning for a handful of students continuing their athletic careers at all levels.
Lafayette will have eight football players signing at 7:30 a.m., whereas the signing at Oxford will take place at 8 a.m. for seven football players as well as boys and girls basketball players.
What to expect from the 2020 Ole Miss class?
The biggest name to watch on Wednesday for the Rebels is that of Zachary Evans. However, there’s a good chance Evans won’t even be signing Wednesday.
A five-star running back and the No. 2 player of his position in the 2020 class according to 247Sports, Evans has had quite a bizarre recruitment. Evans signed his letter of intent for Georgia back in December, but was later released from his signing and reopened his recruitment.
Evans, who is from Houston, Texas, has often been connected to Texas A&M, but recently took visits to both Ole Miss and Tennessee this past month. While the signing window opens Wednesday, players actually have until April 1 to send in their national letters of intent, and Evans seems set to potentially use a little more time to make his decision.
In addition to the 13 signees and three transfer players from December, eight of whom have already enrolled in the University, the Rebels have three players already committed to signing their letters to Ole Miss on Wednesday.
Four-star running back Henry Parrish, three-star defensive back Daran Branch and three-star offensive tackle Luke Shouse all should join the current 2020 Rebel class.
Ole Miss and head coach Lane Kiffin will hold their National Signing Day press conference at 2 p.m. Wednesday to announce the final class and discuss the recruiting process.
