The Lafayette County School District is mourning the loss of one of its students following a fatal car wreck last Thursday. The school district posted a photo of a black ribbon with the announcement that student Isaiah Middleton, 16, had passed away.
Middleton, a junior at Lafayette High School, was involved in a car accident in Panola County, per LCSD superintendent Adam Pugh. Middleton was a resident of the Harmontown community.
“We are saddened to lose one of our students,” Pugh said in a statement to The EAGLE. “My heart breaks for his family. His family is in my thoughts and prayers.”
An official with the Panola County Sheriff’s Department told The EAGLE on Monday they are still gathering information regarding the accident.
Service arrangements for Middleton were announced by Pate Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia, Miss. A visitation will take place on Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Harmontown Baptist Church with a memorial service following immediately after.
