In days following the murder of Ally Kostial, friends have begun speaking out the 21-year-old Ole Miss student. Kostial was entering her final year at Ole Miss, majoring in the School of Business Administration. Her life was taken in the early morning hours on July 20.

Kostial was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority and also worked for Ole Miss’s campus recreation department teaching fitness classes, which she was doing this summer while taking classes. She was also the president of the Ole Miss golf club. Her roommate has since taken to social media to speak about Kostial, how the two met and learning they had more in common than they realized.

“Ally had the most contagious, memorable, goofiest laugh,” Sophie Seim tweeted on Wednesday. “She laughed at everything. I miss that laugh and the grin that came with it.”

Seim stated in her thread that Kostial was placed in her apartment as a random roommate the spring of her junior year and was the first time the two had met. While getting to know one another the two learned they lived 20 minutes apart from each other in their hometown of St. Louis, Mo. Their parents also went to the same high school.

“Even when life had her down, she remained positive and smiling. In the apartment she would always greet us with a “hi, guys!” and a laugh and a smile.”

Seim listed some of Kostial’s favorite things, which read like a list of things many college-aged girls would enjoy, including yoga, pilates, smoothies, UberEats and karaoke. She also listed Rooster’s Blues House as one of her favorite places. One of the last images of Kostial in Oxford was of her getting into a van shortly before midnight on July 19 in front of the stairs that lead to Rooster’s.

Fellow Ole Miss classmate Brandon Theesfeld is being held at the Lafayette County Detention Center and facing a murder charge in the death of Kostial. The two were in the same business school at Ole Miss and photos have surfaced showing they knew each other and went out to bars and parties together. Authorities have not confirmed the extent of their relationship.

Kostial is survived by her father, Keith, mother, Cindy, and brother, Andrew. The family has not provided a statement beyond what Kostial’s father wrote on his Facebook page on Sunday after being informed of his daughter’s death.
