Kentucky man arrested by OPD for felony shoplifting

An officer with the Oxford Police Department responded to a business on Nov. 5, 2024, regarding a man suspected of shoplifting from the business.

The store manager had noticed items missing and decided to investigate. The manager claimed they allegedly discovered that Sami Elias, 67, of Lexington, Kentucky, had stolen items worth more than $1,000.

Elias left the area, and on April 20, he was taken into custody by the William County, Tennessee Sheriff’s Department on a warrant and transported back to Oxford.

He was charged with one count of felony shoplifting and booked into the Lafayette County Detention Center.
